My name is Rani, and I am a student at the University of Iowa. I am majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication, and pursuing a certificate in creative writing. I enjoy exploring new ways to tell human stories, and my goal in my courses is to hone whatever skills I have in order to better share those stories. Writing and language are in my blood. My mother has a masters in Journalism, and my father had an MA in African-American Literature and a PhD in English. I was born in Iowa City, and have lived in Iowa City for most of my life, with a brief stint in Atlanta before going to Grinnell, before finally returning to Iowa City. The writing culture in this community is strong, and I feel it is an appropriate place for me to grow as a writer.
